About TEDxDelMar
What is TEDxDelMar?
TEDxDelMar was held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the Powerhouse on the Beach in beautiful Del Mar.
Our theme was “The Big Picture Future” and as the future is something we both discover and create.
We had an amazing group of speakers on the future of science, technology, business, and social change, and updates on projects and ideas worthy of our help and attention. We are seeking participants to join us in person and online for conversations about foresighted, critical-thinking, positive change agents in four primary areas: Science (scientists, science writers, science geeks, educators, policy developers, etc.), Technology (engineers, developers, hackers, makers, inventors, writers, educators, etc.), Business (entrepreneurs, financiers, social responsibility leaders, org. developers, consultants, etc.), and Society (futurists, social innovators, sustainability leaders, freethinkers, skeptics, etc.).

What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
Our event is called TEDxDelMar, where x=independently organized TED event.
At our TEDxDelMar event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group of 100 attendees.
The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED.

To say I really enjoyed the TEDxDelMar debut, would be an understatement. The variety and depth of expertise and insights was as inspiring as the vista of the bluffs and beaches of the Del Mar coast and Pacific Ocean. The food, drink, seaside vistas, and charming Powerhouse ambiance only added to the heightened experience. It is incredible to think that the organizers moved from concept to coordinated execution of such an event in only four weeks! I just wish there was more time for interaction with the speakers and other guests. I am looking forward to the highly anticipated encore TEDxDelMar.
